Across the gaming landscape, enthusiasts continue to ring the funeral bells for Microsoft's gaming division. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a relatively obscure console. Platform-specific outlets are now publishing content about PlayStation for the first time. 2025 was an era of significant turmoil for the tech giant's gaming arm. Yet, based exclusively on the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it becomes clear that Xbox still intends to engage players with strong games on its premier subscription.
The two games currently accessible as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's worth getting excited about.
On Jan. 13, Game Pass will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that breaks up conventional open-world tropes with a cosmic robbery tale. An additional significant inclusion is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "the perfect cocktail of horror and action."
But even the smaller games set to join the catalog are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that's a blast to play, drops on Jan. 7th — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year could captivate you remarkably quickly.
Atomfall, the stealth survival game by the developers behind Sniper Elite, also warrants your attention. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to look forward to.
In summary, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, nor are they tentpole Microsoft studios games that validate the subscription in the first place. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. There's a good mixture of past releases that passed you by and fairly new titles that didn't get the attention they were due initially — transforming them into excellent choices to find a new audience on Game Pass.
Hope you're ready to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, as it happens.
