Passenger services have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport following a major air traffic control outage halted all operations.

Every arrival and departure were halted due to an IT issue that arose around 08:30.

A number of travelers were left waiting in jets at the stand during the disruption.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, significant disruption are anticipated to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with numerous other services facing hold-ups.

An airport representative had previously estimated that dozens of flights could be disrupted.

"Passengers are advised to get in touch with their carrier for the latest information on their individual travel plans," was the consistent advice.

Cause of the Chaos

The airport attributed the operational halt to an IT issue with its air traffic control provider.

Flyers are still being urged to check the status of their trip before departing to the hub as residual delays are managed.
