It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their appearance will likely occur in a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
