Diving into an Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found plenty of engaging indie games. Yet, one stands out for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer features a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is simple: just use a jump control. In numerous stages, you'll face tough enemies and access a shop to acquire customizations for your poop character.

Execute your actions carefully, as a error requires beginning again. Leap off bubbles to hurl your character to new heights, cross fragile ledges, and touch switches to unlock secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase tougher game content where the action gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo features eye-catching stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple art with morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although hard to name similar titles where you control a piece of feces, gaming have long incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. Unsurprisingly, fecal references appears extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, including winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release set to debut on Steam on November 19.
